formatting issues

I'm not sure why, but I'm having formatting issues when I move a text file of mine that I draft entries in between my Windows work laptop and my personal MacBook laptop. Also, the spell checker in this program is flagging nearly every word, possibly under the belief that the IP address it is seeing indicates my language preference. Oh well.

Are you using openoffice on either platform? I did once on a powerpoint file, then MS office decided to use a British english dictionary and change the default color (or colour?) scheme to white text on a white background.

I'm using Notepad in Windows and then Text Edit on the Mac.

Is it a plain old text file? If so, it looks like you've stumbled upon the 'newline' differences between platforms. Basically, Windows uses "\r\n" (in C shortcuts), unix uses "\n" and (old) mac uses "\r". It gets even more confusing as mac OS X is really unix so "\n" is used a lot. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newline for more info/trivia/jargon.

There's a lot of (free) text editors out there, I'd look around for one you like.
