bribery probe

Hmmm, this looks interesting. Evidently, there's a bribery probe related to work in Yemen from a few years back. (It's a WSJ journal link so it'll go behind their pay wall pretty soon). This is one of those areas of the business where I am not involved (both functionally and geographically in this case), but there are similar operating challenges in this part of the world.

Bribery happens everywhere in every business. Check Wiki for the definition. The most common term used for bribery is “Consulting Fee.” This fee can come in different amounts. The biggest recipients are top government officials!

Aah, the cost of doing business with corrupted people.

Personally, I'm a big fan of "facilitation" and "expediting" fees. As in, if you pay this fee, the time to process your request will go from 'never' to a couple days.

I bet you are paying to the low level government clerks. The fees are peanuts compare to those lawmakers are getting from the lobbyists. For any companies who want to do business in an unfamiliar territory, especially many countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa and even the former USSR one must pay an ongoing large amount of money to keep the business floating. That’s part of doing business. No one will ever eradicate corruption as long as we have “Government.”

CCC

Who needs campaign finance reform when Corporate Campaign Contributions are this big? Actuaslly it is quite small if you compare to their renevues in a single year.

TopDonors

The Unions also are big donors too. It looks like the Dems receive more $$$ in the past 12 years.

Why would I send my hard earned cash to any of the political parties. They do not serve my interests.
